Blank DVDs - DVD-Rs:
A compact disk is a portable storage medium used for recording, storing, and playing back data such as audio and video.
Digital Versatile Discs (DVDs), are compact discs that can contain data, including multimedia, audio, and video files. Blank DVDs look identical to blank CDs, but have a larger storage capacity, up to 13 times more than that of a typical CD.
The “R” in DVD-R stands for “Recordable”, which refers to the fact that content can be recorded on the optical disc with standard recording methods. To capture data to a DVD optical disc, the data can be written, sometimes referred to as "burned", by a DVD recorder. The recording is done with lasers.
DVD-R (Recordable) signifies a write-once and read many times disc format. Write-once formats (such as DVD-R) and professionally manufactured discs are supported by most DVD players
The term "DVD-RW" stands for "Digital Versatile Disc Rewritable". A rewritable DVD-RW disc can be written, erased, and rewritten multiple times. A DVD-RW disc can only be written by using a suitable DVD-RW or hybrid optical drive.
The storage space of a DVD disc is 4.7 GB, about 120 minutes of video, though the higher the quality of the video, the less video the disc will record.
